You’re having a baby! Whether it’s your first baby or you are an experienced mother, we can offer some extra support and assistance through our Welcome Baby Program.
Welcome Baby is a free, voluntary home visiting program for all mothers who live within a five-mile radius of California Hospital Medical Center and give birth at our facility.
Some Benefits of Welcome Baby:
- You can enroll prenatally or soon after delivery.
- You receive a postpartum hospital visit and assistance with breastfeeding.
- A registered nurse will come to your home a few days after your discharge from the hospital to see how you and your baby are doing and to provide any assistance you may need, especially with breastfeeding and caring for your baby.
- Then your own Parent Coach, who you might have met prenatally, will resume seeing you periodically until your baby is 9 months old. She will provide information and support on a variety of topics and help connect you to resources in your community
Our goal is to help you and your baby get off to the right start by offering you support, information and resources on issues such as pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting, early child development, basic healthcare, nutrition, maternal depression, and improving home safety.
Enjoy the journey of motherhood
Every mother who delivers at California Hospital is offered a postpartum hospital visit, at no cost, that includes a maternal/newborn screening, breastfeeding support, information about infant care and attachment, and links to resources and programs in their community. Welcome Baby benefits families in different ways based upon where they live and their unique needs.
Welcome Baby is a part of a network of home visiting programs that work together to provide supportive services to families with newborns. The goal of the network is to connect families with the services that will best meet the unique needs of each family.
