Classes & Events


Northridge Hospital’s classes feature physicians and other experts who educate the community on how to maintain optimal health and prevent injuries and illnesses. Topics include cancer, heart, diabetes, women’s health, senior care, children’s health, prenatal care and nutrition.

All classes are FREE. Registration is required by calling the number provided.

Diabetes Wellness Rx Program

The Diabetes Wellness Rx funded by Medtronic Foundation is designed for individuals with Type 2 diabetes. The program consists of ten week diabetes education workshops and covers topics such as: diabetes management techniques, fatigue, pain, hyper/hypoglycemia, stress, and emotional issues including depression, anger, fear and frustration. Additional topics include:  appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength and endurance, healthy eating, appropriate use of medication, and working more effectively with health care professionals. Each workshop meets 2  hours per week.  Supplemental activities include: support group, fitness instruction, health experts in diabetes and a Diabetes Market Tour.  Participants completing the program will receive a 6-week membership to Mid-Valley YMCA.

Activate Your Heart

Activate Your Heart is a partnership with and led by Mid-Valley YMCA,  funded by Astra Zeneca Foundation  with a goal to increase cardiovascular health awareness.  This exciting and engaging FREE 8-week workshop can help participants reduce the risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Classes use the American Heart Association “Empowered to Serve” curriculum, cooking demonstrations, stress management techniques, grocery store tour, group exercise and health screenings. Participants that complete the program will receive a free 3-month membership for the Mid-Valley YMCA. Childcare is provided at each session.

Safe Dates

A free program for teens on how to create healthy relationships. 

Program will:

  • Raise students' awareness of what constitutes healthy and abusive dating relationships
  • Equip students with the skills and resources to help themselves or friends in abusive dating relationships
  • Emphasize positive communication, anger management, and conflict resolution
  • Provide the chance to win weekly raffles valued at $15 and higher
  • Allow kids to partake in fun activities such as a student play, poster board contest and much more!
