Lloyd H. Dean Named Among Top 25 Minorities in Healthcare

San Francisco, CA - April 20, 2010 - Catholic Healthcare West (CHW), the nation's eighth largest hospital system, today announced that President/CEO Lloyd H. Dean has been recognized as one of the nation's top 25 minority health care executives by Modern Healthcare magazine.

"This recognition is very special for me," says Mr. Dean. "It is particularly gratifying to be named in a year when landmark health care reform was finally realized. Just as the doors to leadership are opening wider for all, so too is the opportunity for millions of more people to finally realize the dream of access to health care."

This marks the second time Mr. Dean has received the recognition, which was instituted by Modern Healthcare in 2006 and is given biennially. Criteria for the nomination process include: successfully serving as a leader or managing an organization or company; having shown the ability or power to effect change in the health care industry; demonstrating a willingness to share expertise with others in the field; serving as a role model or mentor to other minority health care executives and assuming a leadership position in the industry outside of the candidate's own organization or company.
