In My Own Words
Originally from Kentucky, Dr. Robertson earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown College in 1993. Graduating summa cum laude, he majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry while participating in theater and earning scholarships for academics and fine arts. At the University of Louisville School of Medicine, Dr. Robertson spent his first two summers as a research assistant at the Price Surgical Institute. During this time he was awarded locally and nationally for his contributions to original surgical research. After graduating with his Doctorate of Medicine in 1997, he began his residency training in Family Medicine at Scottsdale Healthcare in Scottsdale, Arizona. While at Scottsdale Healthcare, Dr. Robertson was named Outstanding Intern of the Year in 1998 and Resident Teacher of the Year in 2000. In 2000 Dr. Robertson began working for Paradise Valley Hospital in Phoenix and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Arizona State University in 2001 while serving as the medical director of Tatum Highlands Urgent Care Center. During this time, Dr. Robertson was also a media liaison for Paradise Valley Hospital and a medical consultant for KNXV(ABC) television. Developing a primary care center in partnership with Catholic Healthcare West, Dr. Robertson moved to California's Central Coast and founded Ventana Health & Medical Center in 2003, remaining its President and managing partner until May 2011. During this time, Dr. Robertson was also the medical reporter for KCOY(CBS) television and served three years as the chief of staff of Arroyo Grande Community Hospital. In 2011, he was appointed to a medical directorship for Dignity Health's primary care offices as well as the Physician Advisor for French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, California. Currently, Dr. Robertson is the President & CEO of the Pacific Central Coast Health Centers and Chief Physician Executive for the Dignity Health Central Coast Service Area. Reporting directly to the area Senior Vice President of Operations, this position influences all clinical and business operations on the Central Coast, including: Oversight of utilization management for five acute care hospitals Executive and clinical sponsor for clinical integration network development Clinical oversight of claim denials management and provision of sworn testimony to the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals Support for hospital service line quality initiatives and patient experience Management of at-risk contracting including Bundled Payments for Care Improvement initiative Oversight of self-funded health plans and narrow network development Supervision of physician clinical documentation improvement analysis and education Executive liaison to community partners and Physicians Choice IPA Strategic and operational oversight of the Pacific Central Coast Health Centers Member, Board of Directors Dignity Health Medical Foundation and GEMCare Mercy Memorial Health System He is grateful to live on the California coast with his wife of fourteen years, Dana, and their three children. He enjoys skiing, playing guitar, cooking, and traveling with his family when away from the office.
