Diagnosis and Treatment

Methods of diagnosis and treatment of gastroenterological conditions are vast. At Dignity Health Medical Foundation-Woodland and Davis, our specialists select a personalized treatment plan. Some of the procedures performed include:

Upper endoscopy, also known as EGD, is a procedure in which a thin flexible tube with a light and camera at its tip is used to look inside (and possibly operate on) the upper digestive tract.

A colonoscope (similar to an endoscope) is used to examine the inner lining of the large intestine.

This is similar to a colonoscopy, except it shows only the rectum and the lower part of the colon.

This procedure combines upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy and x-rays to treat problems of the bile and pancreatic ducts.

A high-resolution digital scoping device allows for advanced viewing and operative capabilities.

These procedures allow for removal of diseased tissue from the esophagus.

Also known as rubber band ligation, this procedure involves tying the base of an internal hemorrhoid with rubber bands to cut off blood flow.
