Our Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists care for both mother and fetus in complicated pregnancies in partnership with your primary care provider, obstetrician, or midwife. As a member of the Fetal Care Network, we collaborate with a wide variety of specialists from Phoenix Children’s Hospital—including neonatologists, pediatric surgeons and pediatric cardiologists—to provide the best possible outcome for you and your baby or babies.

All of Dignity Health Medical Group’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists are fellowship trained and board certified, you can be confident he or she meets nationally recognized standards for education, knowledge, experience and skills to provide high quality care in a specific medical specialty, above and beyond basic medical licensure.

Maternal Risk Factors (Factors related to the Mother)

  • Pre-existing Medical Conditions:
    • Diabetes (gestational or pre-existing)
    • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
    • Heart disease
    • Kidney disease
    • Autoimmune disorders (e.g., lupus, rheumatoid arthritis)
    • Thyroid disorders
    • Epilepsy
    • Mental health conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety)
  • Pregnancy-Related Complications:
    • Gestational diabetes
    • Preeclampsia (high blood pressure and protein in urine)
    • Eclampsia (seizures due to preeclampsia)

Our focus on high-risk obstetrics and our high patient volume keep us at the forefront of treatment advances in maternal fetal medicine. Our specialists will work with you to tailor a care plan unique to your situation.

Fetal Heart Center
In collaboration with Phoenix Children’s Hospital, our center provides comprehensive care for fetal congenital heart disease. We consider our patients and their referring provider a part of the care team. We offer one-time consultation and ongoing collaborative care. We can assume the primary cardiovascular care role if that is in accordance with the wishes of the family and its providers.
