Our Cardiovascular Medicine & Coronary Interventions (CMCI) physicians have been instrumental in the development of balloon angioplasty, and continue to be at the forefront of percutaneous coronary interventions, including the latest approaches to opening chronically occluded arteries. We treat some of the most complex coronary artery cases in California.

Tomoaki Hinohara

Dr. Hinohara was born in Tokyo, Japan. After training, he served as the Director of Interventional Cardiac Catheterization at Duke University before joining CMCI in 1988, and Dignity Health in 2016. He is currently the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory for Sequoia Hospital.  Throughout his career he has significantly advanced the field of interventional coronary and peripheral vascular disease with innovations in device development. He specializes in complex cardiology cases, and is a regional referral for technically advanced interventional cases. He is a longtime resident of San Mateo County, dedicated to serving the community.

Bahman Nouri

Dr. Nouri completed his medical degree at UCSF, his residency & graduate research in health policy at Stanford, and then returned to UCSF to complete his Fellowship in cardiology & interventional cardiology. Prior to 2011, he was staff cardiologist at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and was an advanced endovascular fellow at the Fogarty Institute for Innovation at El Camino Hospital. He is board certified in Internal Medicine (ABIM), Cardiovascular Medicine (ABIM), Interventional Cardiology (ABIM), Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC), General Vascular Medicine and Endovacsular Medicine (SVM).

Dr. Sheehan was born in Bakersfield, California and hails from the California Central Valley. He joined interventional pioneer Dr. John Simpson in 1983 at Cardiovascular Medicine and Coronary Interventions out of his fellowship at Loma Linda Medical Center.   He is an interventional cardiologist at Sequoia Hospital and volunteers on the Stanford Volunteer Clinical faculty teaching medical students. He has special interests in the treatment of lipid disorders and cardiovascular sports assessment, and was the former San Jose Sharks' cardiologist.   An active sportsman, Dr. Sheehan played for Stanford Championship Rose Bowl teams in 1971 and 1972. He has volunteered regularly for many local youth sports programs.   In addition to consulting for Silicon Valley medical start-ups, he is dedicated to world healthcare and volunteers in Central and South America medical charities. In the local community, he enjoys volunteering for youth team sports.
