Standing Up for Equality
We seek out opportunities to support LGBTQ+ equality.
It’s important to us to live out our explicit commitment to LGBTQ+ people and their families—and we take concrete steps to do just that.
Our LGBTQ+ Health Care Equality Leadership
We’re proud to say that the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) designated three of our hospitals as LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leaders in the 2020 Healthcare Equality Index (HEI)—and all of our hospitals have participated in the 2022 HEI.
Raising Our Voice for LGBTQ+ health & equity
We know how important it is for healthcare organizations to speak out for LGBTQ+ equality, which is closely linked to health and wellbeing. We seek out opportunities to support and highlight progress toward LGBTQ+ equality.
- We congratulated Dr. Rachel Levine on her historic appointment as Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
- We co-signed a powerful statement prepared by the Tyler Clementi Foundation which declares, in part: “We take this opportunity to say to our LGBT friends, especially young people, that we stand with you and oppose any form of violence, bullying or harassment directed at you.”
- We were proud to see the Gender Institute’s commitment to transgender health and equality highlighted in Forbes and the Bay Area Reporter.
