Care Philosophy

I believe healthcare is a personal process between a patient and doctor which involves mutual trust and respect. Therefore in January, 2017 I opened a DPC practice; Direct Primary Care puts the patient back in the center of the equation by eliminating the middleman of insurance. By working directly for my patient (and not for the insurance company), I am able to spend longer amounts of time with my patients to keep them as well as possible. No insurance means low overhead and affordable healthcare, with the ability to email, text, and even videochat! Better history and exams means less expensive testing and referrals. With only 500 patients in my practice, I am available and have time for YOU. "Modern Medicine, Old Fashioned Caring"

In My Own Words

As a Doctor, I take my work very personally, and seriously- I care deeply about each of my patients. I worry about you at night, and on weekends, and yes, on vacation. I believe this personal trusting relationship allows me to provide better care to you and I treasure the unique opportunities for connection and healing that being a family doctor creates: holding your newborn in the nursery, exploring your fears, detangling the odd symptoms, and simply being there when you need me, including at the end of life.            I believe I have found a much better way to doctor, one that returns the emphasis and focus to the patient – doctor relationship (which I have always held is the most important thing in healing!) without bureaucratic interference. Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a new model that removes third party intrusions by replacing the costly and complex billing system with a low membership fee, just like the gym. This allows the focus to shift from billing and finance to what really matters to everyone- time together with your doctor, easy access to your doctor, and the quality of personal care you have come to expect from me. This is a revolutionary idea in today's healthcare world, but I have always been rather a rebel which is why I have been in solo practice, against all odds, for the last 18 years!         I am a Board Certified Family Physician, having completed my residency in Family Medicine in 1993 at Northridge Hospital Medical Center. I graduated from UCLA School of Medicine in 1990 after attending Pitzer College in Claremont, CA where I majored in Pyschobiology. As an Army Brat, I grew up all over the world, but have called Red Bluff home since 1993! I am on staff at St. Elizabeth's Community Hospital where I admit my patients directly if needed-a rarity in this day and age, but I believe if you are sick enough to be in the hospital, you need a doctor you trust who knows your story.
