Capg survey ranks Mercy Medical Group highest

Dignity Health Medical Foundation today announced Mercy Medical Group and Woodland Clinic were awarded the highest ranking possible for outstanding quality care from the California Association of Physician Groups (CAPG) 2014 Standards of Excellence Survey.

The Standards of Excellence survey scores how well-equipped and structured physician groups are to deliver better patient experience, better population health, and better overall affordability. Both Mercy Medical Group and Woodland Clinic received Elite Status in all key domains of the survey, including: care management practices, health information technology, accountability and transparency, patient-centered care, group support of advanced primary care, and administrative and financial capability.

“We are honored to receive the highest ranking in the CAPG survey,” said Joseph Jasser, MD, President & CEO at Dignity Health Medical Foundation. “This recognition is a direct result of the commitment our providers and staff have to deliver high quality, compassionate care that our patients deserve every day.”

The Standards of Excellence survey is a voluntary, critical self-assessment for CAPG’s 180 medical group members in California and 29 other states. The six key domains measured include:

Care Management Practices: the core component of timely, safe, effective, efficient, constantly improving care.

Health Information Technology: the technical tools required to support the above, plus conduits for individual care coordination, population awareness, performance measurement and feedback.

Accountability and Transparency: responding to the demands of the people served.

Patient-Centered Care: what it takes to turn a catchy PR term into a service culture.

Group Support of Advanced Primary Care: to make the “Patient-Centered Medical Home” a system-wide functionality and to revitalize the discipline of primary care.

Administrative and Financial Capability: how physician groups are responding to the financial challenges of healthcare reform.

“We’re seeing phenomenal commitment and engagement among physician organizations to stay ahead of the curve and drive change in how patients receive care,” said Amy Nguyen Howell, M.D., CAPG’s Chief Medical Officer. “Organizations that excel in the survey’s key domains join a truly Elite category of pioneering healthcare organizations.”

This is the second year in a row that both groups received CAPG recognition. Mercy Medical Group received Excellent Status and Woodland Clinic received Elite Status in 2013.
