Mercy Medical Group receives inaugural excellence in healthcare award

Mercy Medical Group, a service of Dignity Health Medical Foundation, was recognized today by Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) for delivering high quality, affordable care to California consumers.

To earn this recognition, physician organizations must have performance that ranks in the top 50 percent of organizations for each of three domains: clinical quality, patient experience, and total cost of care. Out of nearly 200 physician organizations – representing approximately 35,000 physicians who provide care for about 9 million Commercial HMO/POS members – only 11 achieved this honor for 2014.

“Mercy Medical Group providers and care team members dedicate themselves to delivering high quality, accountable, and compassionate care,” said Alan Ertle, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Mercy Medical Group. “This award is a direct reflection of the commitment to our patients that we make every day and we’re honored to be recognized by Integrated Healthcare Association.”

The Value Based P4P program is a successful statewide collaboration that encompasses uniform performance measures, aggregated data collection and validation, a trusted governance process, and a single public report card for physician groups in California.

Ten California health plans contribute data and provide incentive payments based on the aggregated P4P results. These plans are Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Chinese Community Health Plan, Cigna Healthcare of California, Health Net, Kaiser Permanente, Sharp Health Plan, UnitedHealthcare, and Western Health Advantage.
