Comprehensive pediatric care near you

Kids are bundles of energy that come in packages of all sizes. Our pediatricians understand that children aren’t simply small adults, and that many factors can affect their growth and development.

At Dignity Health Medical Group in Oxnard, CA, our pediatricians like to take a holistic approach to children’s health and specialize in your children's physical, emotional, and social health throughout every stage of their lives. Our care team offers same-day appointments, virtual visits, and online scheduling.

Pediatric services offered

  • Immunizations: from hepatitis vaccines to flu shots, our pediatricians can help you make sense of it all.
  • Back-to-school physicals: an annual back-to-school physical is a perfect opportunity to assess your child's health, and also talk through any health concerns.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses: such as an ear infection, cold, bronchitis, flu, sinus infection, skin infection, stomach bugs, or strep throat.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of chronic illnesses: such as allergies, anemia, asthma, epilepsy, or cystic fibrosis.
  • Treatment of skin conditions: such as acne, eczema, or hives.
  • Hearing screenings: since a child's hearing can significantly change as they grow, we recommend giving them routine hearing tests to detect any hearing concerns.
  • Nutritional counseling: we'll work with you to provide a customized nutritional counseling plan based on factors such as age, picky eating or other problematic eating habits, food allergies or intolerances, fitness/activity level, and more.
  • Pediatric behavioral health resources: we believe in understanding and caring for the whole person, which includes mind, body, and spirit connection, and offer counseling and other professional resources to care for your child's well-being.

Frequently asked questions

We recommend that you take your child for a visit to the pediatrician three to five days after birth, but this could change based on your child’s needs.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends that parents bring their children to their pediatrician for regular checkups seven times between the ages of 1 and 4. Speak with your pediatrician for the optimal schedule of visits.

You can always schedule an appointment with your pediatrician first, but they may refer you to a specialist who can provide more thorough care for your condition. Major congenital anomalies, malignancies, major trauma, and chronic illnesses in infants and children should be managed by pediatric subspecialists with the assistance of the child’s pediatrician.

Men aged 18-39 years can go as long as two years between wellness exams, while women in that same age range should have two physical exams in their 20s and another two in their 30s.

As you age, these visits should become more frequent. Men over 45 years should have a physical exam once a year and begin colorectal cancer screenings. Women over 45 years should have a physical exam every one to two years, also beginning mammograms and colorectal cancer screenings.

Our physicians aim to provide personalized and comprehensive care. As much as possible, be open and honest with your physician regarding what’s going on with your health, and don’t hold back if something is bothering you. Some questions you may want to consider for yourself include:

  • Is a medication you’re taking making you feel sick?
  • Do you need help with making healthy decisions or lifestyle choices?
  • Are you experiencing painful or uncomfortable symptoms that interfere with your daily life?
  • Are you having problems sleeping or with your marriage or children?
  • Are you experiencing stress, depression or sadness?
