Arroyo Grande Community Hospital is a full-service, medical facility located in the heart of San Luis Obispo County. Established in 1961 and open to the public on April 15, 1962, Arroyo Grande is a licensed 65 bed hospital offering health care services to central coast residents.
In June of 2004, Arroyo Grande was acquired by Dignity Health, a faith based, not-for-profit hospital. Dignity Health, headquartered in San Francisco, is a system of hospitals and medical centers in California, Arizona and Nevada.
Founded in 1986, it is one of the nation's largest not-for-profit health care systems and the largest Catholic health care system based in the Western United States.
In 2007, we opened a satellite facility, the Coastal Cancer Care and Diagnostics Center in Pismo Beach.
In October of 2014, we celebrated five years as a Dignity Health hospital and we continue to expand our services to meet the growing needs of the community.
Mission, Vision, Values
At Dignity Health, a key part of our mission is supporting the health of our communities in meaningful, measurable ways. It is also part of our mandate as a non-profit healthcare provider under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Dignity Health executive leadership approved a policy that states Dignity Health will not participate in the activities authorized under the act. This includes all Dignity Health hospitals, home care providers, hospices, and physicians in the Dignity Health Medical Foundation.
The Dignity Health Physician Mentoring Program provides local high school and college students the opportunity to witness and understand the importance of professions in the medical field, from evaluation and treatment for follow-up care.
Dignity Health of the Central Coast, Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, French Hospital Medical Center and Marian Regional Medical Center, sponsor community activities that benefit the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve.
