Diabetes Support Group

The Diabetes Support Group is held quarterly and is a place for education and discussion, covering a variety of topics related to health & diabetes. The group, led by Angela Fissell MS, RDN Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, is free and open to the public.

Stroke Support Group

Dignity Health is pleased to host ongoing support group meetings for individuals that have experienced a stroke and/or their caregivers. It is an interactive seminar led by specialists who discuss topics of interest and allow ample time for questions. Light snacks and beverages are provided.

Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP)

This program can prevent and/or reduce adverse health outcomes related to diabetes, pre-diabetes and gestational diabetes. DEEP encourages lifestyle changes while learning about your diabetes and the way it affects your quality of life. There is no cost to participate.

Thursdays, Six weekly sessions, two-hours

Topics Include: 

  • Understanding the human body
  • Diabetes risk factors and complications
  • Nutrition education and meal planning
  • Medications and accessing your health team
  • Physical activity

Healthy for Life Nutrition Series

This program includes information on reading food labels, portion size, eating different colored vegetables, fats and sugars, and heart and stroke education.

By completing the three sessions, you will receive a gift card (per family) worth $30.00

Healthier Living: Your Life, Take Care

This program, designed by Stanford School of Medicine, is designed to help address Chronic Health problems such as arthritis, asthma, cancer, chronic pain, lung disease, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, fibromyalgia, heart disease, mental illness, obesity, osteoporosis, stress, stroke or any other persistent condition.

Tuesdays, Six weekly sessions, 2 ½ hours.

Topics include:

  • Managing symptoms
  • The importance of exercise and muscle relaxation.
  • How to successfully handle problems such as fatigue, pain and insulation.
  • Effective communication with family, friends, and health professionals.
  • Nutriton 
  • Managing depression
  • Appropriate use of medications

American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED Classes

American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver CPR AED classes are designed to prepare people to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) use in a safe, timely and effective manner. An AHA CPR card will be given after successful completion of the class. The card is valid for 2 years. *Note: This class does not cover First Aid and it is not a Healthcare Provider Class. If you need a CPR card for the hospital, or EMT, or something similar, this class will not be sufficient.

Cost: The class is free to all community members.

Class time: All classes will start promptly at 5:00pm. The duration of the class is approximately 3 to 3 ½ hours. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early to find parking and to locate the classroom.
