Oncology & Hematology

Dignity Health Medical Group's Oncology offers chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. Most patients needing chemotherapy can receive it on an outpatient basis here, close to home.

A well-equipped infusion center allows for the delivery of chemotherapy treatments that range from simple to complex. Therapy can vary from an injection to an infusion process that can take most of a day. Individual treatment plans are prepared for each patient. Some must visit the center weekly, and others only every three weeks.

Typical courses of treatment last between three and six months. To assure that each patient’s treatment is most effective, all patients’ cases are monitored by a multidisciplinary team, which reviews pathology, case history and treatment status.

The staff strives to create a sense of community and healing in the medical oncology office and treatment room. Patients often enjoy chatting with each other during treatments. Or they might choose to read, listen to music, play games or have lunch.
