Intensive Outpatient Program

St. Joseph's Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP is a 6-8 week program for adults needing treatment for mental or emotional problems. Participants attend a three and a half hour session, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at either 9 a.m., 1 p.m., or 5:30 p.m.

We offer morning, afternoon and evening programs, at 2 different locations so as to provide minimal disruption to patient’s daily lives. We want our participants to continue to go to work or school.

This program focuses on life management, self-understanding, interpersonal relationships, and the attainment of personal satisfaction and meaning. IOP uses dialectical behavior therapy, a cognitive behavioral approach, proven effective in helping individuals improve their overall life skills. We offer both individual and group therapy sessions specific for the patient’s needs.

During small group sessions of 8-10 people, participants learn the basic skills of: Core Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotional Regulation and Distress Tolerance. We offer a supportive environment that encourages growth and helps to foster change.

Dual Diagnosis IOP

The Dual Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient Program is designed to meet the needs of those suffering from substance abuse as well as an underlying mental health condition. This structured outpatient program uses the 12-step model as well as dialectical behavior therapy to help those in need make positive changes in their lives.

Treatment lasts three hours per day, three times a week, for six weeks, depending on individual need. Participants meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 5:30 to 9 p.m.
