Moving for Hope raised $16,000 to benefit the Cancer Rehabilitation Fund

ARROYO GRANDE, CA – September 10, 2020 – Arroyo Grande Community Hospital Foundation’s Moving for Hope event held on Saturday, August 15 raised $16,000 to benefit the Cancer Rehabilitation Fund. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was held virtually and encouraged supporters to get out and get moving.

Participants formed 11 teams that participated in outdoor activities including: running, walking, cycling, and horseshoes. Community supporters were invited to make a donation to help the team of their choice meet its fundraising goal. Donors could also make a general donation to the Moving for Hope event. Because of the success of the event, there are plans for expansion in future years.

All proceeds raised benefit the Cancer Rehabilitation Program at Mission Hope Cancer Center, Arroyo Grande – a personalized exercise and nutrition program that is offered at no cost to cancer patients. The program helps patients safely implement heathy lifestyle behaviors into their daily routines, which has been shown to reduce the chance of cancer recurrence and improve side effects of treatment.
