Dignity Health Central Coast Hospitals Welcome 11 Leap Day Babies

Posted in:
Being born on February 29 is a rare occurrence - approximately four million people in the world are leap year babies

CENTRAL COAST, CA– March 2, 2020 – The labor and delivery teams at French Hospital Medical Center (FHMC), and Marian Regional Medical Center (MRMC), both Dignity Health hospitals, were leaping with joy as they welcomed 11 leap day babies into this world on Saturday, February 29 - a date that only comes around about once every four years.

The healthy bundles of joy join a unique group of individuals, who share a February 29th birthday and are lovingly known as “leaplings.” Our 2020 leap year babies include two infants born at French, and nine babies were birthed at Marian. The bundles of joy were welcomed on Saturday to overjoyed families and hospital staff.

French’s newly expanded Family Birthing Center includes serene private birthing rooms, a new family waiting area and a dedicated C-section suite. At French, we focus on family-centered care, with your baby born in a private room and cared for at your bedside, promising labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum all in one room, making it much easier on new moms.
