The skilled nursing facility named 2020-2021 Best Nursing Homes for Short Stay Rehabilitation and Long-Term care by U.S. News & World Report

SANTA MARIA, CA – October 27, 2020 – U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in health care rankings, today announced the Best Nursing Homes for 2020-21, and Marian Regional Medical Center’s Extended Care Center is pleased to again be recognized among the top in the nation.

Now in its 11th year, the U.S. News Best Nursing Homes ratings and profiles offer comprehensive information about care, safety, health inspections, staffing and more. The Best Nursing Homes ratings reflect U.S. News’ exclusive analysis of publicly available data using a methodology defined by U.S. News that evaluates factors that it has determined most greatly impact patient and resident care, safety, and outcomes. This year, to accompany the new ratings, nursing home profile pages were updated to include a patient safety summary that reflects COVID-19 data alongside other measurements of safety and related advice on choosing a home or facility amidst the pandemic.

This outcome helps consumers make informed decisions and find the best possible care for their loved ones. After careful evaluation of more¬ than 15,000 nursing homes, the title is awarded to only those homes that demonstrate appropriate use of key services and consistent performance in quality measures, and are rated high-performing.

“Marian’s Extended Care Center is honored to have once again been recognized in this capacity by the reputable and well-respected U.S. News & World Report, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic” says Dignity Health Central Coast Vice President of Post-Acute Care Services, Kathleen Sullivan. “Our highly-skilled staff provide unsurpassed levels of comfort and care to our patients, and to have them acknowledged for their dedication and service is outstanding. Our patients and their families can rest assured knowing that our nursing facility excels in the care we provide.”

The Best Nursing Home finder features ratings on both long-term and short-term care. The Long-Term Care Rating aims to provide prospective residents who need help with daily activities, and their families, with analysis and information regarding the quality of care provided by nursing homes. The rating includes data on staffing, success in preventing ER visits and pneumonia vaccination rates, among other metrics. The short-term rating incorporates measures of quality including consistency of registered nurse staffing, use of antipsychotic drugs and success in preventing falls.

Marian Extended Care Center’s 95-skilled bed nursing facility provides sub-acute health care for individuals in need or short-term, intermediate, or long-term care. The facility is conveniently located across from Marian Regional, and provides patients and residents with immediate access to the finest routine and emergency medical care on the Central Coast.
