Marian Regional Medical Center Receives Accreditation for Higher Level of Geriatric Emergency Care

The ACEP Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Program (GEDA) recognizes Marian Regional Medical Center with ”Level 3” accreditation

Santa Maria, CA, May 9, 2024 –Dignity Health Marian Regional Medical Center is proud to announce it has achieved accreditation by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation Program (GEDA).

The GEDA  recognizes Marian Regional Medical Center's commitment to providing high-quality, specialized emergency care for older adults. The Level Three certification ensures the hospital's emergency department meets the interdisciplinary geriatric standards set forth by ACEP, including accessibility requirements and specialized training for the medical staff.

With nearly 17% of Santa Barbara County residents aged 65 and over, as reported by the U.S. Census, and this demographic steadily increasing, the demand for exceptional geriatric emergency care has become increasingly critical.

The GEDA accreditation is not just a symbolic recognition. It  signifies the hard work and concrete steps Marian’s Emergency team has taken  toward providing high-quality geriatric care. By achieving this accreditation, Marian Regional Medical Center has demonstrated its commitment to providing the highest level of care to older adult patients, with a focus on meeting their unique needs and challenges.
