Arroyo Grande Police Department Supports Mission Hope Through No-Shave November and Santa Cop Program
The Arroyo Grande Police Officers Association demonstrated its commitment to the community by supporting Mission Hope Cancer Center, Arroyo Grande through its annual No-Shave November fundraiser and Santa Cop program. These initiatives, led by Police Chief Michael Martinez, helped raise funds for the Cancer Care Fund at Mission Hope Cancer Center, Arroyo Grande. The fund helps provide critical resources for cancer patients in our community, ensuring our neighbors have access to the care, screenings, and support they need during their cancer journey.
"It was a pleasure for our officers and staff to work together to help Mission Hope Cancer Center, Arroyo Grande with all they do for our community's cancer patients' needs," said Chief Martinez. When he approached the Arroyo Grande Police Officers Association and asked if they were interested in generating funds to support the Mission Hope Cancer Center through No-Shave November, the officers did not hesitate to participate.
Each participating officer donated $25 for the opportunity to grow facial hair throughout November. The Arroyo Grande Police Officers Association matched these funds, resulting in a total donation of $900 to Mission Hope Arroyo Grande. This contribution will aid cancer patients and their families by providing essential support during their treatment journey through the Cancer Care Fund.
Beyond No-Shave November, the Arroyo Grande Police Department (AGPD) has long been involved in community outreach through its Santa Cop program. This 38-year-old tradition is dedicated to assisting less fortunate families with food, household items and essentials during the holiday season.
For the first time in 2024, Mission Hope Arroyo Grande was included in the Santa Cop program. This partnership allowed AGPD to extend its holiday giving efforts to families undergoing cancer treatment. Officers purchased gifts and food to help alleviate some of the financial and emotional burdens faced by these families during the holiday season.
"Working with Mission Hope AG to help these families in their time of need was an honor, and our staff was very grateful to be part of this giving," Chief Martinez added. "The Arroyo Grande Police Department is very proud of this program and grateful for the yearly donations from our Five Cities community members and beyond. Thank you for helping us make a difference this year."
