Edna Valley Health Center

At Edna Valley Health Center in San Luis Obispo our experienced team of Primary Care Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers offer diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses, the management of long term, acute and chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypothyroidism and heart disease. We offer guidance on preventative care, immunization, health maintenance with patient education and screening programs. Our office has a nurturing environment but virtual visits are available on request.

Margaret Greenough, MD

Dr. Margaret Greenough is a Family Medicine Specialist in San Luis Obispo, CA and has over 10 years of experience in the medical field. She graduated from UCLA School of Medicine in 2010 and completed her residency at the University of Michigan in 2013. 

When not at work, Dr. Greenough enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with her family.

Erik Van Houten, MD

Erik Van Houten, MD, is board-certified in Family Medicine. He earned his Doctorate of Medicine at University of California, Davis, School of Medicine and completed the Mercy Redding Family Medicine Residency Program.

He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and also earned an Associate Arts degree from Cuesta College. Dr. Van Houten served as a US Navy Corpsman for six years, which included Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has a strong interest in a holistic approach to the medical arts and believes that patient autonomy is the cornerstone of medical ethics.

When not at work, Dr. Van Houten enjoys power vinyasa yoga, clubbells, spinning, hiking, camping, reading, poetry, traveling, and spending time with his wife and three sons.

Jessica Johnson, PA

Jessica Johnson PA-C is a board-certified Physician Associate. She attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. She then studied for her Master’s degree at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA.  She is an affiliate member of the American Academy of Physician Associates and the California Academy of Physician Associates. She is certified in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
