Over the last several months, Dignity Health has been negotiating in good faith with Cigna to reach a new, responsible contract agreement that puts patients first. Our goal in working with Cigna is to protect patients’ access to our physicians, nursing teams and other vital healthcare resources while ensuring our ability to continue to provide quality services now and in the future. 

If Cigna is unwilling to work collaboratively with Dignity Health caregivers, the majority of our providers and services would no longer be in-network with Cigna beginning January 1, 2026.

Yes, patients will still be able to access care from Dignity Health. However, if Cigna considers Dignity Health physicians, nurses and services out-of-network, it could limit patient access and choice, potentially resulting in higher out-of-pocket costs. 

Dignity Health is committed to doing everything we can to protect patient access to the doctors, nurses and services they know and trust. We will continue working with Cigna to advocate for a fair agreement that protects patients’ access to essential services and ensures the long-term sustainability of our health care system.

Patients can take action today to protect their healthcare access and choice: 

• Call Cigna at the number on the back of your insurance card and urge them to work with Dignity Health doctors and nurses to reach a fair  agreement that prioritizes patient care. 
• Talk to your employer’s human resources or benefits department and urge them to contact Cigna on your behalf. 
• Call Dignity Health at 888-212-9089 to learn more about your health insurance options and how we are working to protect access to care.
