Breast Reduction

Large breasts can cause a variety of physical and emotional pain and discomfort. The resulting pain can make it challenging for some patients to perform common physical activities. Along with the physical ailments of macromastia, some patients may suffer from emotional distress or more significant mental health problems as a result of their large breasts.

Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a procedure to remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size more in proportion with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with large breasts (macromastia).

At Mercy Medical Group Plastic Surgery in Sacramento, breast reduction surgery is often elected by patients whose breasts give them:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Shoulder strap indentations
  • Inability to perform various physical tasks
  • Other pain or discomfort

Prior to making a decision, you and your surgeon will discuss the issues that concern you, your goal for breast size after surgery, and the techniques available to help you achieve that goal based on your current breast size and physical shape. You will also have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the surgery and recovery process.

If you’re interested in breast reduction, Sacramento’s Mercy Medical Group Plastic Surgery Center can help alleviate your pain and give you the healthy, active and pain-free lifestyle you’ve been dreaming of.
