Volunteering at St. John's
OXNARD, CA, September 5, 2018 – St. John’s Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) and St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital (SJPVH), members of Dignity Health, now offer leading-edge 3D mammography technology at St. John’s Regional Imaging Center. This new screening technology allows annual screenings to be easier and more thorough than before.
“Research shows that 3D mammography, also known as tomosynthesis mammography, can detect earlier invasive breast cancer by up to 40% compared to 2D mammograms,” said Kim Spencer, Senior Director of Cardiovascular, Diagnostic Imaging and Oncology Services, at SJRMC.
Compared to traditional mammography, 3D imaging takes multiple breast images in just seconds, allowing your doctor to view your breast tissue in layers for a more complete picture. This is especially helpful for women with dense breast tissue, which can make cancer harder to detect.
“Greater accuracy means better breast cancer detection to help save lives,” said Alicia Zaragoza, NP, Oncology Nurse Navigator of the St. John’s Integrated Breast Center. “Making a difference in the lives of mothers, wives, and daughters is part of St. John’s Hospitals’ continual commitment to women’s health.”
To schedule an appointment for a screening mammogram at St. John’s Regional Imaging Center, please call 805.983.0883. Our Imaging Services are located at the Medical Pavilion at SJRMC. 3-D mammograms are covered by most insurance companies.
If any member of the media would like additional information or to schedule an interview, please contact Arrate Zavala in the Marketing Communications Department at 805.988.2751.
