Dignity Health North State Hospitals Light Up Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Posted in:

(Redding, Calif.) – (October 7, 2025) – Throughout October, Dignity Health North State hospitals will light up pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, honoring patients, survivors, and loved ones affected by the disease.

Breast cancer profoundly impacts families. Dignity Health urges everyone, including men and women, to prioritize their breast health. Early detection is critical, with localized cases having a 99% five-year survival rate. Staying mindful of risk factors, including lifestyle choices such as maintaining a healthy weight and limiting alcohol, can help reduce risk.

Dignity Health emphasizes the importance of personalized screening discussions with healthcare providers, noting general guidelines suggest annual mammograms for women starting at 40 or 45, while advancements in targeted therapies and immunotherapies continue to offer new hope for patients and their families.

To engage the community in health and wellness around the topic, the launch of the popular Walk With a Doc (WWAD) monthly series will feature a brief health discussion on Breast Cancer Awareness by local healthcare providers, followed by a communal walk around the Sundial Bridge. WWAD is a free, physician-led walking program designed to promote physical activity and healthy living in the community. The group will meet at the statue outside of the Branch House at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, at the Sundial Bridge in Redding, Calif.

Dignity Health is also expanding its commitment to comprehensive cancer care with the new Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center in Redding. Slated to open in 2026, this $70 million, state-of-the-art facility will offer advanced screening technology, cutting-edge treatments, and comprehensive support services, addressing the growing need for centralized cancer care across the North State.
