Is Cardiac Rehabilitation For You?

If you’ve recently experienced any of the following cardiac issues, you may want to see us:

  • Heart attack
  • Angioplasty/stent
  • Coronary artery bypass surgery
  • Heart transplant
  • Valve replacements
  • Other forms of heart disease

Cardiac Rehabilitation Team

Our cardiac rehabilitation team includes registered nurses, physical therapists, and an exercise physiologist. Our goals are to make you feel more comfortable and knowledgeable about living with heart disease, learn how to reduce risk factors, and help you achieve your greatest quality of life.

Your cardiac care team may also include pharmacists, clinical dietitians, certified diabetes educators, nurses, and chaplains.

What You Can Expect

There are two phases of cardiac rehab: monitored and unmonitored.

We offer weekly, one-hour classes Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays throughout the day for both phases.

Monitored Phase

The monitored phase typically begins six to eight weeks after your cardiac episode/event. During each monitored exercise session, we assess your:

  • Heart rate
  • EKG rhythm
  • Blood pressure
  • Symptoms
  • Progress towards goals

Your family members are welcome and encouraged to attend the educational sessions, which are scheduled weekly on Fridays.

The monitored program requires a referral from your doctor and is generally covered by your insurance or Medicare. Please call your doctor for a referral.

Unmonitored Phase

Many individuals choose to continue exercising in our supervised setting but without continual EKG monitoring. In fact, some of our patients have been exercising with us for more than 25 years.

However, please note that this program is generally not by covered insurance. For class information and availability, call us at (650) 367-5517
