Year-Round Volunteer Opportunities


Volunteering at Sequoia Hospital offers you opportunities to enrich your life by giving your time and talents in the service of others. Volunteers meet others with similar interests and know they serve an important purpose in our community. Their presence adds humankindness to caring for patients and their loved ones. The one thing all Sequoia Hospital volunteers have in common is generosity: They give of themselves.

Procedure for becoming a volunteer

Below are the details outlining the process to become a volunteer. This process typically takes up to three months to complete. Before proceeding, applicants are asked to review the volunteer requirements provided below to ensure that volunteering at Sequoia Hospital aligns with their interests and commitments.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older to join.
  • Commit to serving for at least one year.
  • Commit to 100 hours of service, one four-hour shift each week.
  • Apply to help others, not for personal gain.
  • Volunteering at Sequoia Hospital does not count toward clinical hours for academic purposes.
  • Volunteers do not shadow, witness, or provide clinical services (internship or externship).
  • We will provide, at your request, a report of your hours when you have completed 100 hours or more. 

Step 1: Application

  • Complete volunteer application online.
  • Volunteer applications stay active for 90 days.

Step 2: Attend an In-person Information Session & Interview

  • You will learn more about volunteer opportunities at our hospital and the steps involved in becoming a volunteer.
  • We will have a dedicated Q&A session where you can ask any questions you may have about volunteering with us.
  • There will be an opportunity for a brief interview where we can get to know each other better and discuss how your skills and interests align with our volunteer positions.
  • If we find a volunteer position that matches your skills, interests, and availability we will invite you to begin the onboarding process.
