Volunteer at Memorial Hospital


At Memorial Hospital, our goal is to provide quality healthcare to our patients. Our volunteers play a very important part in our healing ministry, assisting our staff and providing that “personal touch” to our patients. They help make a hospital stay as pleasant as possible for patients. 

Volunteers give love every time they touch the lives of patients, guests, and employees at Memorial Hospital. As essential members of the healthcare team, they assist the hospital’s professional staff by serving as non-clinical caregivers and patient liaisons. The kindness and concern shown is especially comforting to patients and their loved ones. 

As a volunteer you’ll have the opportunity to make new friends, develop new interests, share your unique talents, and most of all, enjoy the satisfaction that comes from helping others.

Who can Volunteer?  

Our program is composed of two groups: adult volunteers and youth volunteers

  • Adult Volunteers: Our adult volunteers represent all segments of the community. Many find pleasure in giving back to their communities by providing excellent care to our patients and their families during their hospital stay.
  • Youth Volunteers: Memorial Hospital offers opportunities to teens ages 16 and 17 from numerous high schools in the area. Young adults learn to care for others while receiving an introduction to medical careers and the opportunity to develop leadership skills.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Wayfinder (Main Entrance, Surgery, Outpatient Surgery) 
  • Nursing Unit Liaisons (Medical Surgical, Telemetry, Emergency Department, Pediatrics & Labor & Delivery)
  • Caring Cart
  • Dignity Health Infusion Center (located at CBCC) 
  • NICU Cuddler Program - Program is currently full. Check back for updates!
  • Pet Therapy (must have a certified dog) 
  • Graduate Medical Education Research Assistant
  • Gift Shop
  • Ronald McDonald House (located on Memorial Hospital campus)

Adult Volunteer Requirements: 

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • A minimum commitment of a 4-hour shift for a minimum of 200 hours. 
  • Must pass a background check for all applicants 18 years of age or older. 
  • Complete an in person interview and health clearance.
  • Provide your complete immunization record.
  • Agree to receive the annual flu vaccine during flu season. 
  • Attend our volunteer orientation as scheduled (Monthly orientation dates, TBD) 
  • Complete assigned unit training (Scheduled Monthly- Friday) 

If there are open volunteer positions, a staff member from the Volunteer Services Department will contact you after reviewing your completed application. 

Youth Volunteer 

  • Must be ages 16-17 years  of age and currently enrolled in a local high school. 
  • Commit to a once a week 3 or 4 hour shift for a minimum of 100 hours. 
  • Must have parental/legal guardian signed consent.
  • Must provide an unoffical school transcript.
  • Provide your complete immunization record. 
  • Provide two letters of recommendation from a teacher or academic counselor (Youth packets with letter instructions will be emailed once application is received) 
  • Agree to receive the annual flu vaccine during flu season. 
  • Attend our volunteer orientation as scheduled (Monthly orientation dates, TBD) 
  • Complete assigned unit training (Scheduled Monday- Friday)

If there are open volunteer positions, a Youth Volunteer Packet will be emailed once the application is received.
