Dignity Health Appoints Christine McSweeney as the new Hospital President for Sequoia and Dominican Hospitals

CALIFORNIA – April 6, 2026 –  Dignity Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine McSweeney, MBA, FACHE, as the new Hospital President for Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City and Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. McSweeney will assume her role on Monday, April 13, bringing with her a distinguished career marked by exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to quality patient care.

McSweeney will oversee operations and strategic growth for both Sequoia and Dominican Hospitals, further strengthening Dignity Health’s presence and commitment to communities across the Central Coast Market.

“I am honored and excited to join Dignity Health’s California Region and lead these two distinguished Hospitals,” shares McSweeney. “I am deeply committed to continuing the excellent work already underway at both facilities and working collaboratively with our dedicated caregivers, staff, and the communities we serve. I look forward to building on the strong foundations here and contributing to the health and well-being of the Central Coast.”

McSweeney joins Dignity Health’s California Region from CommonSpirit Health’s Utah Market, where she most recently served as President of Holy Cross Hospital - Jordan Valley and West Valley. During her tenure, she significantly elevated the hospitals’ standing, most notably leading Jordan Valley to be recognized as a Leapfrog Top General Hospital – the only hospital in Utah to achieve this prestigious distinction. Furthermore, under her leadership, Jordan Valley received a designation by Healthgrades as a top 5% hospital for Quality and Safety, a testament to her dedication to patient outcomes.

"We are incredibly fortunate to welcome Christine to our California Region," said BJ Predum, Central Coast Market President for Dignity Health. "Christine’s exceptional leadership, commitment to quality, and ability to foster strong teams make her the ideal person to guide Sequoia and Dominican Hospitals forward, ensuring continued excellence and delivering the highest benefit to our patients and communities."

McSweeney holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
