New State of the Art Burn Unit Now Open at Memorial Hospital’s Grossman Burn Center

BAKERSFIELD, CA ― May 31, 2019 ― 

The SA Camp Companies Burn Unit at The Grossman Burn Center at Memorial Hospital has opened to patients in its newly-renovated permanent space. The first-of-its-kind in Kern County, this state of the art unit includes a 7-bed Intensive Care Unit and an outpatient facility. The unit also includes:

  • A private family consult room
  • A dedicated play area designed to encourage physical and occupational therapy.
  • Acute care
  • Catastrophic care
  • Pediatric intensive care
  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Reconstruction
  • Rehabilitation
  • Psychological support

“Roughly three years in the making, our new comprehensive S.A. The Grossman Burn Center at Memorial Hospital is a plastic surgery-based burn facility specializing in the comprehensive treatment of burns - from acute care and reconstruction, to rehabilitation and psychological counseling. Advanced Burn Life Support ( ABLS) trained medical professionals are available 24/7. Dignity Health Memorial Hospital is the first and only designated burn receiving center in Kern County.

The Grossman Burn Center at Memorial Hospital is available 24-7 in our emergency room and the Robert A. Grimm pediatric emergency room. Any burn injuries that come in to our emergency room will be seen by our team. We treat all burns including: thermal, electrical, chemical and radiation.
