Dignity Health Bakersfield Provided More Than $82 Million in Patient Financial Assistance and Community Benefit Programs in FY21


BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 11, 2021) – Dignity Health Bakersfield provided more than $82 million in patient financial assistance and community benefit programs in fiscal year 2021 (FY21).

Mercy and Memorial Hospitals offer a comprehensive approach to improve community health, including financial assistance for those unable to afford medical necessary care, a range of prevention and health improvement programs conducted by the hospital alongside community partners, and investments in efforts that address the social determinants of health.

In FY21, Mercy Hospitals Bakersfield provided $54,424,249 in patient financial assistance, unreimbursed costs of Medicaid, community health improvement services, and other community benefits.

Sister hospital, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, provided $27,980,319 in FY21 in patient financial assistance, unreimbursed costs of Medicaid, community health improvement services, and other community benefits.

In addition to the community health improvement services and other community benefit programs Dignity Health Bakersfield provides, Mercy and Memorial Hospitals also offer financial assistance for medically necessary hospital services to patients who meet certain criteria.
