Docent Program

Whether this is your first child or your fourth, it helps having someone guide you on your journey so you feel confident and prepared. That’s where Dignity Health’s Docents come in! As a first-of-its-kind program in Bakersfield, our Docents (Patient Liaisons) serve as a helpful resource for you and your family.

What is the Docent Program?

Starting in November 2017, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital launched the first maternity-focused Docent initiative in Bakersfield. The program is completely free for expectant mothers and their families, and our Docents are here to make sure all your questions are answered, and you have access to as many of our wonderful hospital resources as possible.

How Can a Docent Help Me?

The Memorial Hospital Docents support mothers throughout maternity, labor & delivery, and postpartum. In addition to assisting mothers during their stay at Memorial Hospital, they can also help family members access resources and support their loved ones!

The Docents are accessible both via phone or text. Whether it’s a question or a request, your Docents are here to support you, and to make your Memorial Hospital experience as memorable and seamless as possible!

Common Questions We Help Answer
