Pediatric Acute Care

Pediatric Care at Lauren Small Children’s Center

Babies, toddlers, children and teens all have different health care needs, and these change rapidly as they grow. That’s why the Lauren Small Children’s Center at Memorial Hospital was created: to address the unique requirements of young patients.

The Lauren Small Children's Center's Bolthouse Family Pediatric Department is a 35-bed unit. A place just for kids, this specially designed unit is a uniquely child-friendly environment with bright colors, special artwork and recreation spaces for kids of all ages. Some of the Pediatric services we provide include care for respiratory, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, neurologic, diabetes, renal and blood disorders.

Our Pediatricians

Bakersfield Memorial partners with Valley Children's Medical Group, one of California’s largest pediatric multi-specialty physician groups to provide hospital-based pediatricians, known as pediatric hospitalists. These pediatric board-certified physicians specialize in providing 24/7 care for infant, child and adolescent/teen patients in the hospital. These physicians collaborate closely with local primary care providers and other pediatric specialists in Bakersfield and beyond to provide the highest quality of pediatric healthcare services to the patients and families in Kern County.

Helen Taylor Cobbs Children's Healing Garden

Just outside the Bolthouse Family Pediatric Department is the Helen Taylor Cobbs Children's Healing Garden. This whimsical place of respite for patients, family, visitors, and staff was designed and constructed by Monji Enterprises.
