Marian Medical Center’s Diabetes Program has been helping our community members with diabetes for more than 18 years. In addition, because of the program’s clinical excellence, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) has officially recognized it as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education for the third time.
The program is designed for anyone with Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes that is 16 years old or more. Visits are covered by Medicare, most insurance plans and the Community Benefit Program for uninsured individuals. Participants receive one-on-one education from a registered dietitian and a registered nurse, as well as four classroom-style educational sessions. Annual one-on-one sessions are available from that point on.
The goal of the program is to tailor the education for individuals with diabetes on effective self-management skills and provide available resources.
