The Integrated Breast Center at St. John’s Invites Community Members to the 10th Annual Breast Symposium

Celebrate the Journey

OXNARD, CA – (September 10, 2019) – St. John’s Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) and St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital (SJPVH), members of Dignity Health, invites community members to the 10th Anniversary of St. John’s Annual Breast Symposium on Saturday, September 28. This event will bring together women and men of all ages to collaborate and learn from our local specialists about breast health.

This year’s Celebrate the Journey symposium will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Serra Center (5205 Upland Rd, Camarillo, CA 93012).

“This year’s theme, Celebrate the Journey, is an opportunity for anyone interested in breast health to learn about the advances in the last 10 years and a chance to celebrate our journey both in life as well as in science,” said Lynn Jeffers, MD, Medical Director of St. John’s Integrated Breast Center and Plastic Surgeon. “We are honored to have a decade of ongoing community support for our program. This event allows us to continue educating the public while providing a unique, and uplifting experience.”

During this FREE educational program, the Integrated Breast Center (IBC) specialists will discuss topics in breast health and breast cancer such as: nutrition, radiation therapy, treatment protocols, genetics, risk factors, imaging, breast reconstruction, and balancing life before, during and after a diagnosis. During the symposium, guests will have the opportunity to visit our expo booths offering free bone density tests, chair massages, and photo booth, plus educational information. Attendees will also have the chance to shop for skin and body care products, and jewelry. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be served, and participants will have a chance to win door prizes.

The IBC at St. John’s is comprise of a highly specialized multidisciplinary team: breast specialists, physicians, oncology nurses, and therapists, who provide integrated oncology care to the community. The IBC features the most advanced imaging technology including 3D-Tomosynthesis for all breast tissue types. The IBC is an award-winning leader in cancer care, providing the latest innovative treatments. It is also a designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, recipient of local and national grant awards including from the Avon Foundation, Plastic Surgery Foundation’s Breast Reconstruction Surgery Public Awareness Grant, Meadowlark Service League, Dignity Health Oncology Grant, and Sientra Full Circle Grant.
