St. John's Cancer Center Hosts Cancer Survivors Day

The Dignity Health St. John's Cancer Center of Ventura County invites all cancer survivors, family, friends and caregivers to a special celebration to commemorate National Cancer Survivors Day® on Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.

The event will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Healing Garden and Conference Rooms 1 & 3 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center located at 1600 N. Rose Ave. in Oxnard.

“We invite all survivors to join us and to celebrate how life after cancer is more than just surviving. It can be beautiful, abundant, and fulfilling. That’s something to celebrate,” says Alicia Zaragoza, Oncology Nurse Navigator at St. John’s Regional Medical Center. “Our celebration will be filled with joy, hope, camaraderie, and compassion as we acknowledge our community’s cancer survivors.”

The event will include a relaxing afternoon filled with music, good food, education and a celebration of life. Guest speakers at this event are Susan Speer, RD, CSO, Cancer Nutrition Specialist, Diane Martell, LMFT, Cancer Support Counselor, and Audrey Walzer, Owner and Director, Camarillo Yoga Center.

Anyone living with a history of cancer, from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life, is a cancer survivor, according to the National Cancer Survivors Day® Foundation. In the United States alone, there are more than 14.5 million people living with a history of cancer.
