Dignity Health’s Arizona Division has unveiled an innovative digital tool to make it easier to navigate the emergency department -- providing patients with real-time, mobile updates about their wait times and next steps, and helping providers optimize ED workflows and communicate with patients in real time. This new partnership with Vital, the makers of AI-powered software for hospital emergency departments, will help ensure that patients and their loved ones feel informed when visiting the emergency department.
ERAdvisor from Vital Software is currently available at four Dignity Health Arizona hospital sites, including St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Chandler Regional Medical Center, Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Westgate Medical Center. It is also being provided at two Dignity Health free-standing emergency departments located in Glendale and Litchfield Park. The partnership aims to enhance the patient experience at the hospitals by helping patients feel more in control of their visit with automatic and detailed updates that can be easily shared with friends and family.
“While COVID-19 has impacted healthcare in many ways, one that has not changed is our mission to provide exceptional patient care,” said Jessica Allen, clinical director of Chandler Regional’s Emergency Department. “By putting ERAdvisor into place, we’re helping to assure patients that we’re taking the appropriate steps to make sure they are well-cared for when they are at our Dignity Health hospitals -- while also allowing our team to communicate directly with patients all along their visit.”
ERAdvisor helps keep patients informed and in control of their visit by providing real-time content and text message updates to patients and their families through their smartphone. The application includes the latest information on wait times, next steps, progress on labs and imaging, information about care teams, and is tailored for each patient’s journey and language. Patients can share information about their visit securely with family members with the push of a button, so they can keep updated from wherever they are.
Vital is a modern software for hospital emergency departments that makes it easier to coordinate care and engage with patients. Using artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP), Vital updates patients and families throughout their ER visit, provides insights to maximize revenue for each patient, and helps decrease length of stay. Founded by Mint.com creator Aaron Patzer, Vital is HIPAA-compliant, and a cloud-based software that sits on top of any existing electronic health record system (EHR): Epic, Cerner, Meditech, and more. The company’s investors include First Round Capital, Threshold Ventures (formerly DFJ Venture), Bragiel Brothers, Meridian Street Capital, Refactor Capital, Vivek Garipalli, SV Angel, and Flatiron Health Founders Nat Turner and Zach Weinberg.
