Orthopedic Procedures

Certain orthopedic treatments such as physical therapy may alleviate joint pain and improve mobility. Time, overuse and injury may cause symptoms to reoccur and in some cases worsen. The surgical team at Chandler Regional performs a variety of orthopedic procedures to treat musculoskeletal disorders, sports injuries and degenerative diseases.

Full Range Of Orthopedic Treatments

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) repair
Orthopedic surgeons reconstruct the ACL by making small incisions in the knee and inserting instruments for surgery through these incisions (known as arthroscopic surgery). Depending on your injury, a large incision may need to be made in the knee. This is commonly known as open surgery. A graft, such as a piece of tendon from your kneecap, is used to replace the ligament.

Arthroscopic surgery
Arthroscopy is a surgical orthopedic procedure that allows your doctor to look at the inside of your joint using an instrument called an arthroscope. The scope gives the doctor a view of your joint, the cartilage, ligaments and the space in between the bones. It can also be used to repair a joint problem, such as removing loose or foreign bodies or monitoring progress of the disease or how well a treatment is working. This orthopedic procedure is most often performed on the knee, shoulder and ankle, though it can also be done on the hip, elbow and wrist.

Hand injury care
Chandler Regional performs a number of orthopedic treatments for hand problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures and dislocations, osteoarthritis, tendinitis and disorders or injuries of your fingers or thumbs.

Joint Replacement
If you have advanced arthritis in your knee or hip you may need total joint replacement. With hips, you have  traditional total hip replacement, or a partial replacement. Each of these orthopedic procedures is a type of hip replacement, but there are important differences. In a traditional total hip replacement, the head of the thighbone and the damaged socket are both removed and replaced with metal, plastic or ceramic components.
