The most effective test when screening for osteoporosis or trying to detect the early onset of the disease is a bone densitometry scan.
Osteoporosis is a condition that causes thinning and weakening of the normal bone. If you have osteoporosis you will have a higher risk of bone fractures due to your body's inability to support your own weight. This test requires special equipment that is completely safe and your exposure to radiation is very small.
