Research and Education
Patty White is President and CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, a 600-bed, not-for-profit hospital that is a nationally recognized center for quality tertiary care, medical education and research.
Patty leads a team of 5,000 medical professionals, support staff, and volunteers who are dedicated to providing excellent patient care and improving the quality of life in the community.
Patty has been a leader in the Dignity Health Arizona Service Area for more than 30 years. A trained cardiovascular nurse, Patty began her career at the patient bedside and progressively moved through management positions in the organization. She has served as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Nursing Executive and Vice President of Operations at St. Joseph’s. In 2009, Patty became president of Chandler Regional Medical Center, another Dignity Health hospital. She served in this position for three years before being named president of St. Joseph’s in 2012.
Known for being a servant leader, Patty has dedicated her career to improving the patient experience and health in the community. She serves on the Fresh Start Women’s Foundation Board of Directors and was board chair for the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Leadership Academy. Patty has been extensively involved with the American Heart Association, serving on the association’s Phoenix Chapter Board, as well as on the Heart Ball Committee Medical Council and Go Red for Women Committee. In addition, Patty is a member of the American Hospital Association’s Governing Council for Metropolitan Hospitals, which requires her to visit legislators in Washington, DC, to provide input and advocacy on the association’s behalf. Patty has also served as an active board member of the Desert Southwest Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Chandler Chamber of Commerce, and the East Valley Leadership Board.
Patty received her bachelor of science in nursing from Central Missouri State University and her master of science in nursing from the University of Arizona. She is an avid runner and outdoor enthusiast who enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.
