Dignity Health YRMC Names 2025 Clinical Teacher of Year

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (Jan. 20, 2026) – Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center (YRMC) has named Shane Monnett, DO, as recipient of the hospital’s 2025 Teacher of the Year award.

Dr. Monnett has been with YRMC since 2024 and is trained in robotic-assisted surgery. He practices primarily at the recently-opened general surgery clinic in Prescott Valley.

To receive the award, nominees have to meet several criteria, including receiving high evaluations from students and residents on a consistent basis, actively engaging with their students and promoting critical thinking amongst them, demonstrating outstanding clinical teaching, modeling professionalism, compassion and ethical patient care, and contributing to an overall positive and supportive learning environment.

For Dr. Monnett, the award is the cherry on top of a fulfilling two years thus far with the hospital.

“Every day, I get the privilege of teaching students who are as passionate and eager about medicine as I am,” Dr. Monnett shares. “I count myself as extremely fortunate to care for our patients in the community and to work with those that constantly strive to make a positive impact in their lives.”
