PRESCOTT, Ariz. (March 4, 2026) – Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center’s (YRMC) Partners for Healthy Students program is bringing crucial health care to children in the Prescott area. The program bridges critical gaps, offering comprehensive medical services to uninsured and underinsured children to ensure their well-being. From preventative to diagnostic care, the program is a key resource for families who find themselves navigating health care challenges.
For Nina Caliguire, a mother of two who faced a lapse in health care coverage during the COVID-19 pandemic, Partners for Healthy Students proved to be invaluable. Initially, her eight-year-old son utilized the program for his sports physicals. Soon after, he and his sister began receiving immunizations through the clinic. A failed hearing test for Caliguire’s daughter prompted a referral to an audiologist for her and an eye screening for Caliguire’s son revealed he would need glasses. ”This program truly provided great support and top-tier care for my children,” says Caliguire.”
Similarly, Ashley Andersen, a Prescott native who recently returned from living in California, found the program to be a beacon of support for her children. Andersen was without health insurance and struggling to secure an appointment at a local pediatric clinic. Andersen turned to Partners for Healthy Students and her three children began receiving well-child visits.
The swiftness with which staff handled her children's more serious health issues also impressed Andersen. When her youngest daughter contracted RSV, pneumonia, and the flu at less than a year old, the clinic staff sprung into action to help care for her. “I just can’t say enough good things about them,” Andersen added.
“At Partners for Healthy Students, we recognize that wellness and better academic performance go hand-in-hand,” says Amy Negovan, the program’s director. “That’s why we prioritize removing barriers to care, including affordability and accessibility.”
Beyond the medical care, it’s the kindness and attentiveness found within the clinics that has left the biggest impression on both Andersen and Caliguire. “The staff know all my kids by name. They call to ask how they’re doing and my kids love visiting them,” Andersen shared. Caliguire echoes this sentiment, saying “They have excellent bedside manner. My kids look forward to going because the staff are so nice to them. When it comes to Dignity Health, both at YRMC and Partners for Healthy Students, they really care and try to make things more convenient for you.”
The program’s clinics consist of two in-school locations and a mobile clinic that travels to six sites throughout the week. Those interested in scheduling an appointment, learning more about the program, or finding out if they qualify can call (928) 771-5123.
Partners for Healthy Students is funded by YRMC and the Yavapai Regional Medical Center Foundation.
