Dominican Hospital Foundation Launches $4 Million "Path to Wellness" Campaign
Philanthropic Support to Strengthen Community Health Services: Dignity Health Wellness Center and the Katz Cancer Resource Center
SANTA CRUZ, CA – March 18, 2026 – The Dominican Hospital Foundation today announced the public launch of its purposeful"$4 Million Path to Wellness Campaign," a critical initiative to ensure the continued sustainment of two cornerstone community outreach programs:the Dignity Health Wellness Center and the Katz Cancer Resource Center. The Foundation has already secured $3 million towards its $4 million goal, underscoring significant community support for these vital services.
The "Path to Wellness" Campaign aims to create a healthier future for Santa Cruz County by supporting programs that address increasing demand for accessible healthcare, rising chronic disease rates, and the unique needs of an aging population.By 2030, one in three Santa Cruz County residents will be over 65, making services like those offered by the Wellness Center and the Katz Cancer Resource Center more essential than ever.
“Dominican Hospital is honored to incorporate both the Wellness Center and the Katz Cancer Resource Center within our scope of patient care,” said Nanette Mickiewicz, MD, President & CEO of Dominican Hospital. “Each of these community benefit programs serve as an extension of our Hospital’s services, ensuring that health and wellness resources are accessible to all residents of Santa Cruz County, regardless of their insurance coverage or location.”
About the Dignity Health Wellness Center
- Located in Live Oak, the Wellness Center provides a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and rehabilitation programs for individuals of all ages and conditions.
- This Center serves as a crucial hub for individuals such as seniors to maintain independence, offers vital support for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit(NICU) babies and their families, and provides low-cost or free services to address health disparities within the community.
- Its programs improve health outcomes for individuals with chronic conditions, support physical and mental well-being for vulnerable populations, and offer both pre- and post-pregnancy resources.
About the Katz Cancer Resource Center
- Situated within the Mary and Richard Solari Cancer Center at Dominican Hospital, the Katz Cancer Resource Center (KCRC), stands as the only community-centered program accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer in Santa Cruz County. This distinction is particularly critical given the prevalence of cancer in our region.
- The KCRC offers comprehensive, personalized support to patients and families navigating the complex journey of cancer, from diagnosis through survivorship, all free of charge.
- Services include patient navigation—which saved patients over $380,000 in grant support last year—oncology-certified nurse support, and emotional wellness programs, including bilingual navigators, social workers, and dietitians funded by this campaign.
"The 'Path to Wellness' Campaign is an urgent call to action designed to sustain these two community-driven programs," said Anthony Pagliaro, Chief Philanthropy Officer of the Dominican Hospital Foundation,"While Dominican Hospital has proudly supported these programs for years, increasing demands and financial challenges mean philanthropic support is more vital than ever. We're incredibly grateful for the $3 million already raised and look forward to partnering with our community to reach our $4 million goal, ensuring everyone in Santa Cruz County has the resources they need, especially those facing the challenge of a chronic disease or cancer diagnosis."
