Mercy and Memorial Hospitals have received the Gold Seal of Approval and Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center from The Joint Commission
UNICEF/WHO's Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative have recognized Mercy and Memorial Hospitals as Baby-Friendly® hospitals, the highest accreditation for birth centers.
Memorial Hospital was awarded the Get With The Guidelines – Mission Lifeline Gold Plus Receiving by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
Memorial Hospital has achieved Pathway to Excellence® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Memorial Hospital is the first hospital in Kern County and only the second hospital in California to achieve the Pathway to Excellence designation. This designation identifies the elements of work environments where nurses can flourish, substantiates the professional satisfaction of nurses at Memorial Hospital, and identifies it as one of the best places to work.
Memorial Hospital awarded the Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.
Mercy and Memorial Hospitals’ Department of Special Needs and Community Outreach was honored with the 2015 Achievement Citation from the Catholic Health Association of the United States (CHA).
Mercy Hospitals received the 2015 Cost & Quality Award for Infection Control from Healthcare Business Insights.
Memorial Hospital won the 2014-2015 Consumer Choice Award for Bakersfield. The award is given annually by the National Research Corporation to the hospital that consumers rank as best in overall quality and image.
The Sarvanand Heart and Stroke Center at Memorial Hospital received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines® - Target: Stroke Honor Roll Quality Achievement Award at the association's International Stroke Conference 2015.
CareChex recognizes Memorial Hospital for the 2015 Quality Award for Medical Excellence in Women's Health.
The Sarvanand Heart and Stroke Center at Memorial Hospital received the 2014 Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for the treatment of stroke patients.
Mercy Hospitals received the Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Silver-Plus Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for the treatment of stroke patients.
Memorial Hospital receives Chest Pain Center Accreditation with PCI from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC), an international not-for-profit organization that focuses on transforming cardiovascular care by assisting facilities in their effort to create communities of excellence that bring together quality, cost and patient satisfaction.
Mission Lifeline: Bronze Receiving. The American Heart Association recognizes Memorial Hospital for achieving 85% or higher composite adherence to all Mission: Lifeline STEMI Receiving Center Performance Achievement indicators for consecutive 90-day intervals and 75 percent or higher compliance on all Mission: Lifeline STEMI Receiving Center quality measures to improve the quality of care for STEMI patients.
Beautiful Bakersfield Award - All American City Tradition was awarded to Memorial Hospital for the 34th Street/Homaker Park Neighborhood Transformation Project.
Patient Safety Excellence Award™ - Memorial Hospital 2014, 2013, 2012. The Patient Safety Excellence Award™ recognizes hospitals for how well a hospital prevents infections, medical errors, and other complications based on 13 standard patient safety indicators. Patients receiving care at Patient Safety Excellence Award recipient hospitals have, on average, a lower risk of experiencing patient safety events.
Healthgrades Pulmonary Care Excellence Award™ 2014. This award recognizes Memorial Hospital for superior outcomes in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pneumonia. Patients who receive COPD or pneumonia treatment at these nationally recognized hospitals have a lower risk of dying.
Mercy Hospitals is named a Five Star Recipient from Healthgrades for excellence in total knee replacement.
Memorial Hospital achieved Healthgrades 2013 Patient Safety Excellence Award™. The distinction places Memorial Hospital within the top 10 percent of all hospitals for its excellent performance in safeguarding patients from serious, potentially preventable complications during their hospital stays.

Patients who have these procedures at these nationally recognized hospitals have a lower risk of experiencing a complication during their hospital stay.
Healthgrades Maternity Care Excellence Award™ 2013. Awarded to Memorial Hospital for providing superior maternity care overall. Women who deliver at these nationally recognized hospitals have a lower risk of experiencing a complication during their hospital stay and their newborns have a lower risk of dying.
Beautiful Bakersfield Award - Health was awarded to the Lauren Small Children's Center at Memorial Hospital.
Beautiful Bakersfield Award – Commercial Remodel was awarded to Mercy Hospitals for the Mercy Garden at Mercy Hospital Southwest.
In 2011 Memorial Hospital was named one of the nation’s top performers on key quality measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America.
Memorial Hospital was recognized by The Joint Commission based on data reported about evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care and children’s asthma.
Memorial Hospital was honored with top awards for branding, advertising, medical writing and public relations in an annual professional awards competition. The hospital and its advertising agency won multiple “Golden Advocates” at the 2011 annual awards ceremony of the Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations Association of Southern California.
