Dignity Health Urology Center–Southwest specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract issues in men and women.

Conditions diagnosed and treated include but are not limited to:

  • Bladder cancer
  • Enlarged prostate or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
  • Kidney stones
  • Overactive bladder
  • Prostatitis
  • Testicular cancer

Some of the procedures or treatments we perform are:

  • Cystoscopy (visual scope inspection of the urethra and bladder/prostate (in men))
  • Treatments for BPH
  • Removal of kidney stones
  • Anti-incontinence surgery
  • Catheter placement
  • Ultrasounds
  • Suture removal
  • Needle biopsy

The Dignity Health Urology Center–Southwest is aligned with the Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center (CBCC). Dr. Stone collaborates with Ravi Patel, MD, FACP, hematologist/oncologist and medical director of CBCC to ensure urologic oncology patients receive comprehensive care. Together, their expert teams offer multidisciplinary care to patients with urologic cancers, including cancers of the bladder, kidney, testicles, and prostate – the most common type of cancer in American men.

When to See a Urologist?

You should consult a urologist if you have any of the following issues: 

  • Pain during urination 
  • Difficulty emptying the bladder
  • Blood in the urine
  • Urine leakage and poor bladder control 
  • Difficulties with sexual function 
  • Difficulty conceiving children

Under the direction of Bruce Stone, DO, a Bakersfield board certified urologist, the Dignity Health Urology Center–Southwest is accepting patients. A referral from your primary care physician is not necessary.

From U.S. News & World Report: A hospital's kidney failure score is based on multiple data categories, including patient survial, volume and more. Over 6,000 hospitals were evaluated and eligible hospitals received one of three ratings -- high performing (1,089 hospitals), average (1,403 hospitals) or below average (999 hospitals) with the balance either not offering the service or performing too few of the procedures to be rated. Hospitals that earned a high performing rating were significantly better than the national average.
