Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta Awarded Critical Access Hospital Accreditation from Joint Commission

(MT. SHASTA, CALIF.) February 12, 2026 – Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta (MMCMS) is pleased to announce it has earned Critical Access Hospital Accreditation from The Joint Commission, an independent, evidence-based standards-setting organization that establishes national benchmarks for safe, high-quality patient care.

This significant accomplishment formally recognizes MMCMS's ongoing commitment to meeting rigorous performance standards and delivering the safest, highest quality care to its patients. This accreditation is vital for the hospital's continued capacity to serve the Siskiyou County community. MMCMS underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite survey November 11-13, 2025. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission surveyors assessed compliance across key areas such as emergency management, environment of care, and infection prevention and control.

"This Joint Commission accreditation isn't just a certification for us; it's a promise to our Siskiyou County community," said Rodger Page, Dignity Health North State Market President and President of Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta. "And it’s only made possible thanks to the exceptional dedication and skill of every single member of our team. Achieving Critical Access Hospital accreditation means we can continue to be here, locally, delivering the absolute highest standards of safe, quality care our friends, families and neighbors deserve. It ensures our community has continuous, reliable access to medical excellence right at home and strengthens the health care foundation of this entire region."

Joint Commission surveyors conducted on-site observations and interviews to identify performance strengths and opportunities for continued improvement. With decades of expertise and a data-driven accreditation process, The Joint Commission helps ensure health care organizations adhere to leading quality and safety practices, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and commitment to better patient care.

"The Joint Commission congratulates Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta for achieving accreditation by demonstrating its focus on delivering safe and effective care of the highest quality and value," says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer, The Joint Commission. "Through the accreditation process, we worked closely with Dignity Health Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta to enable and affirm the highest standards of health care quality and patient safety. Together, we are elevating care for all patients, and we appreciate the hospital’s collaboration throughout this process."
