Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Experience faster wound recovery and improvement of certain medical conditions with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO treatment) from Dignity Health.
By breathing 100% pure oxygen while under increased atmospheric pressure, patients receiving HBO therapy absorb oxygen at a quicker rate, greatly enhancing the body's ability to heal itself.
A Dignity Health therapist performs and closely monitors HBO treatment while the patient rests inside a transparent hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber. While inside the HBO chamber, the patient receives increased oxygen levels at roughly two times the normal air pressure. Increased oxygen levels with HBO treatment near the wound site help reduce swelling, fight infection and improve circulation.
Serious wounds can take weeks or months to heal. In some cases, wounds can be very resistant to the healing process and may never completely heal. Our wound care typically treats non-healing wounds, such as pressure sores, sores from radiation exposure, and foot ulcers.
