Raymond F. Shamos, MD, is a general and trauma surgeon at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Shamos is board certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General Surgery and Critical Care.
Dr. Shamos’ expertise includes trauma surgery and upper gastrointestinal surgery, including the stomach and esophagus. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Phoenix Surgical Society and the Arizona Chapter of the American Medical Association.
Dr. Shamos was recently named one of Arizona’s “Top Docs” by Phoenix Magazine. He received his medical degree from the University of Witwaterswand in South Africa. He completed a residency in surgery from Johannesburg General Hospital and an additional residency in surgery from the University of Rochester.
