HUSH ... Help Us Support Healing

“Quiet Time” hours are designated periods of time in all of our inpatient units dedicated to promoting patient rest and sleep which supports health and healing.

“Quiet Time” Hours

  • Daytime: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Overnight: 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. (May vary based on the unit)
HUSH

To support patient rest and sleep, staff will:

  • Ask about your individual rest and sleep needs.
  • Check to see if noise is disrupting your sleep or rest.
  • Dim lights and close your room door when medically appropriate.
  • Offer you earplugs, sleep masks. Instruction is on the TV Guide for the white noise channel to help you relax.  This is Channel 2.
  • Coordinate care to reduce unnecessary entry into your room during quiet hours.
  • Do everything we can to limit disruption of sleep during quiet time hours.
  • Use flashlights to limit putting your room lights on whenever possible at night.

What can patients and families do to help?

  • Minimize the number of visitors during “Quiet Time” hours.
  • Keep TV volume low during quiet time hours.
  • Using headphones when watching TV or using other multimedia devices.
